About this Role

We are looking to fill aScientist 2 - Packaging and Device Analytics Distribution Testing Specialistposition working as a full-time employee of Parexel on long-term assignment onsite at one of our clients located in West Point, PA. This position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off.

Description: The Center for Packaging and Device Analytics (CPDA) provides physical analytical expertise in support of production and commercialization of packaging and combination device products. A laboratory scientist for the CPDA distribution laboratory will support distribution characterization and testing (e.g. ISTA, ASTM) of packaging configurations for standard primary packaging components (e.g. vials, bottles, blisters) and medical device-combination products (e.g. syringes). Work will involve hands-on experimentation and testing with both standard (e.g. ISTA, vibration, drop and shock testing) and fit-for-purpose characterization methods. Individuals should have prior hands-on laboratory (either in an academic or industry setting) and be capable/interested in hands-on physical science experimental work, and able to effectively document results in laboratory notebooks and technical reports. In addition to primary focus (supporting CPDA distribution lab), the scientist would potentially provide support for other CPDA project work (e.g. primary packaging characterization/assessments), as needed.

100% onsite role, lab-based. Work will be 1st shift.

Qualifications: BS or MS Degree in Automated Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or equivalent

  • Scientist 2 - BS with 1-2 years of industry experience; or MS with no experience

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Prior hands-on lab experience in academic or industrial laboratory setting

  • Personality: Flexible, adaptable, collaborative, team player, attention to detail and technically curious

  • Strong written and verbal communication and attention to detail skills

  • Proven ability to work independently

  • Must be physically capable to lifting up to 35 pounds

  • Software: MS office (Word, excel), ELN

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working in a laboratory/role directly supporting packaging distribution testing

  • Experience with packaging testing and characterization

  • Familiarity with standard package distribution testing methods (e.g. ISTA, ASTM)
