Duke Energy Supervisor Maintenance - Solar South Region in United States

The location of this position is in the Southern FL area. This position will mainly support the following locations: Lake Placid, Duette, Charlie Creek, Debary, Fort Green, and Lake Placid Battery. Support at other locations would be on an as needed basis.

Employees at this level solve complex problems, manage work, and provide leadership to technicians and contractors in several areas of specialization associated with operation and maintenance of solar equipment. This position will be utilized for assignments providing support to specific projects and initiatives in support of multiple sites. Initial focus will be setting up work management processes/databases as well as operating and maintenance procedures for new solar sites. Ongoing predominant focus will be the oversight of solar field maintenance, managing 3rd party service providers required to provide deliverables outlined in contracts such as O&M agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, EPC agreements (Engineer, Procure, & Construct), etc. This position will also be required to engage Contingent Workers for limited periods of time. The ability to work with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work is essential. Incumbents are also expected to possess or acquire advanced skills and have the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Work management processes - responsible for scheduling, coordinating, supervising all work activities within the work group at multiple locations. Includes ensuring parts availability and identifying spare parts requirements. Proficiency in Maximo software and planning experience needed. Oversee any warranty work that needs to be done.

  • Coordination of multiple technicians, vendors, contractors, & suppliers to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective solar operations at multiple sites. Communicates performance metrics and expectations to direct reports and contractors. Provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of best practice routines, work process improvement, maintenance and operation procedures.

  • Ensures compliance with all operational, environmental and other regulatory and policy compliance requirements. Monitors station environmental, health and safety objectives and ensures they are met.

  • Provides leadership and accountability in order to achieve desired safety results (Lock Out Tag Out compliance, safety meeting attendance, safety policies/procedures, work practices, etc.).

  • Provide leadership and support for incident reporting process, including fact-finding investigations, decision-making problem solving analysis, etc.

  • Counsels, trains, evaluates, develops, guides and assists assigned personnel relative to job performance and duties.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships between departments and internal customers.

  • Knowledge & experience with electrical circuits, and electro-mechanical construction principles.

  • Experience in overseeing contractors and administering programs relating to policy, contracts & procedures. Work management processes, Maximo scheduling, contractor oversight, contract management, project management.

  • It is recommended that an up-to-date resume reflecting work experience and job skills applicable to the position be attached when applying.

    Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree and 3 years of prior work-related experience; OR 7 years work related experience in lieu of a degree.

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university

  • Knowledge & hands-on experience with electrical circuits, with particular emphasis on troubleshooting and repair (control, power, fiber optic).

  • Knowledge & hands-on experience with photovoltaic solar systems, inverters, SCADA systems, and relays.

  • Experience with, and understanding of, electrical and mechanical construction principles.

  • Hands-on experience with work management processes, Maximo scheduling, contractor oversight, contract management, project management.

  • Financial knowledge and skills, including ability to analyze data.

  • 3 years previous supervisor experience.

  • 5 years utility/universal scale solar experience, in a field environment.

  • 2 years supervisory / contractor oversight experience

  • Formal electrical, NFPA70E (or equivalent), and PV industry specific training.

    Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge & experience with electrical circuits, electro-mechanical construction principles

  • Experience in overseeing contractors and administering programs relating to policy, contracts & procedures

  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety measures/controls

  • Work management processes, Maximo scheduling, contractor oversight, contract management, project management

  • Financial knowledge and skills including ability to analyze data

  • 3 years previous supervisor experience

  • 5 years solar experience

  • Formal electrical training, NFPA70E Training, PV industry specific training

  • 2 years supervisory / contractor oversight experience

Working Conditions:
