BAE Systems Navy Combat Systems Weapons Technician in Wallops Island, Virginia

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking Navy Combat Weapons Systems Technicians with experience in performing comprehensive component and system level maintenance for shipboard Weapons Systems. The work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA s Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.

The selected candidate will perform comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance on any of the following Navy Combat Weapons Systems:

Guns Weapons Systems MK-160 Mod 14 (MK 34 Mod 7),

Guns Weapons System MK-160 Mod 15 (MK 34 Mod 6)

Guns Weapons System MK-160 Mod 19

Guns Weapons System MK-86

Vertical Launching System (VLS)

Harpoon Weapons System (HWS)

GFCS MK-160/11

GFCS MK-160/04

GFCS MK-160/06

GFCS MK-160/08

Tomahawk Weapons System (TTWCS)

Provide system/equipment configuration and operational support for all deployed baseline AEGIS and SSDS variants

Schedule planned maintenance actions utilizing the SKED program in accordance with the Navy s Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and also be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Minimum education and years of service required: High School/GED and more than three years demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance on systems and equipment. PQS 301 qualification is required. If selected candidate is not PQS 301 qualified on or before hire date, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within 3 months of employment.

Successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40 hour work-week configurations, including:

  1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift

  2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift

  3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

  4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

**PLEASE NOTE - These work week configurations may be scheduled on a rotational basis

Security clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Highly desired, but not required:

Active DoD clearance

Certified ETA Fiber Optic Installer

Experience trouble shooting and repairing Low Level Serial and Parallel interface cables

Experience with Network devices and an understanding of Operating Systems, preferably RedHat or UNIX

Pay Information

This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
