Advisory Board, part of Optum and the UnitedHealth Group family of businesses, is looking for a Sales Strategy Leader to join our team. This individual will boldly lead the expansion of Advisory Board’s footprint by managing the launch of new products and the entry into new market spaces. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of achieving results by designing and executing innovative business development strategies. The ideal leader will thrive in an environment that encourages bold experimentation and will identify the unique strategies that maximize performance in distinct product and market segments.

This individual will build collaborative relationships and work in close partnership with the new product development, marketing, and research teams. The individual will also manage a team of sales executives and act as a leader, coach, and cheerleader, contributing positively to team results and culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Achieving sales target assigned to three distinct launches in 2023

  • Manage 2-3 Sales Executives to goals, provide formal feedback, and guidance on professional development

  • Oversee all aspects of the sales process for launch products including visit acquisition, pitch and collateral development, and contract closure

  • Participate in, and at times own/lead the sales process and coordination with all necessary parties (ex. legal, pricing, finance, etc.) to close a sale

  • Act as a key contributor to the overall commercial leadership team to shape and drive strategies that drive the broader sales team to goal and contribute to positive sales culture

  • Display exceptional strategic selling skills including discovery, ROI development and presentation, sales cycle maintenance, and tactical planning and closing

  • Collect and communicate market feedback and insights on new products in order to evolve product positioning, pitch, collateral, etc.

  • Accurately forecast team sales performance on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis, including an action plan to maximize opportunities and mitigate vulnerabilities

  • Cultivate and deepen C-suite and/or complex client relationships

  • Communicate and present effectively at multiple audiences and levels (listening, written, and verbal communication)

  • Develop solid cross-functional working relationships across new product development, marketing, content, product, and service delivery teams to strengthen go-to-market process

  • Clearly demonstrate problem-solving capacity and the ability to be responsive and act with urgency

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 8+ years of professional work experience

  • 4+ years of experience in sales, account management, or commercial with a track record of successful sales/ownership over personal revenue target

  • Direct experience bringing new products to market or established products into new market segments

  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a team

  • Knowledge of the health care landscape and/or expertise in Payer market or Sponsorship sales

  • Ability to conduct presentations and facilitate group discussions

  • Proven negotiation and persuasion skills

  • Proven ability to meet and exceed goals

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and experiment in order to design new sales strategies

  • Excellent communication skills; written, oral, interpersonal

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $90,000 to $175,000. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $90,000 to $175,000. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
