The Opportunity

The Senior Manager of Business & IT Alignment will be responsible for overseeing a substantial client area, utilizing advanced technology to provide comprehensive support across various divisions. This role is particularly focused on the Supply Chain and Planning domain , which is recognized as an integral part of the enterprise. The incumbent will ensure that business strategies and IT initiatives are in sync, thereby driving efficiency and effectiveness within the organization. This position plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and IT solutions, ensuring that technology investments align with the strategic goals of the enterprise.

Sr. Business & IT Alignment Manager:

  • Leadership & Delivery Management : Oversees the team and associated activities that necessitate collaboration between various business units and IT (including Plan/Build/RUN/BRM). This role is crucial for the successful delivery of Abbott solutions and for ensuring that the anticipated value is realized from the outsourced relationships under management.

  • Business Requirements Identification : Works closely with Business Relationship Managers and Providers to identify and articulate business requirements. This partnership ensures that IT solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs of the business.

  • Enterprise Strategy Alignment : Collaborates with the Enterprise Strategy team to align the direction of the domain with the overall strategic goals of the organization.

  • IT Solutions Delivery : Holds the responsibility for defining and delivering IT solutions. Plays a pivotal role in decision-making, planning, and executing IT initiatives, thereby driving the successful implementation of IT strategies.

  • Client Needs Anticipation : Proactively anticipates the needs of the client area and the technologies deployed. This foresight ensures that IT solutions are future-proof and can adapt to evolving business requirements.

  • Team Development : Harmonizes the team, motivates members, and provides opportunities for professional development. This role is key to building a high-performing team that can deliver exceptional results.

  • Coaching & Mentoring : Provides coaching and mentoring to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. This guidance helps team members to enhance their skills and contribute more effectively to the organization’s goals.

What You'll Work On:

  • Request Lifecycle Management : Proactively anticipates and manages the lifecycle of in-queue requests (Work Intake/Demand). This includes tracking the status of requests, updating the Request Tracking Log, and providing regular feedback on status to the Request Initiator (BRM).

  • Project Execution & Approval : Holds primary responsibility for the successful execution of projects through providers. This includes approving all project-related deliverables, from EWO/PWOs to System Decommission.

  • Capacity & Demand Management: Manages BSS capacity and reviews corresponding project demand for solutions and projects across respective domain(s). Ensures alignment with Enterprise service providers and escalates if a Provider is unable to meet demand.

  • Planning & Risk Assessment : Plans, executes, and evaluates work to time, cost, and quality targets. Assesses and evaluates risk while ensuring effective communication, both formally and informally.

  • Leadership & Collaboration : Demonstrates leadership by facilitating collaboration between stakeholders who have diverse objectives. Understands the relevance of own area of responsibility/specialism to the employing organization.

  • Client-Centric Evaluation : Takes client requirements into account when evaluating proposals, ensuring that solutions are tailored to meet client needs.

  • Supplier Communication & Negotiation : Manages communication and negotiation with suppliers to obtain required solution design and sizing (hours effort). Reviews and approves infrastructure and software-related project costs.

  • Compliance & Regulation Adherence : Takes account of relevant legislation, compliance requirements, and industry regulations, ensuring that all activities adhere to established guidelines.

  • Industry Leadership & Strategic Thinking : Emerges as a leader in industry advancements and direction of domains supported. Thinks strategically, leveraging knowledge of domain needs across Abbott.

  • Systems Operations Management : Ensures effective systems operations between the suppliers and Abbott Plan/Build organization, promoting seamless collaboration and efficiency.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage direct exempt and nonexempt teams of about 8- 10 members.

  • The group will expand as additional applications require implementation and support.

Position Accountability and Scope:

  • Organization: Reports to the Director, Global Standard, Traceability and Supply Chain and is responsible for 8 direct reports

  • Budget & Compliance Management : Holds responsibility for staff and travel budgets, ensuring strict compliance with Abbott training requirements. Approves ROM estimates prior to project initiation, reviews and approves time reports/invoices, and monitors actuals.

  • Partnership & Escalation Management : Partners with Enterprise Architects on the establishment of Domain-specific Communities of Practices. Functions as the Single Point of Escalation for all questions, activities, and issues related to project delivery requests aligned to specific business functional domains. Holds accountability across Abbott for technologies defined within their domains.

  • Compliance Assurance : Ensures compliance with Enterprise-wide standards and the fit and function of applications within the Abbott IT Landscape.

  • Work Prioritization : Collaborates with division and BSS management to prioritize the work in queue.

  • Supplier Issue Resolution : Takes the lead in driving supplier issues to resolution.

  • Solution Leadership : Leads solutioning for functional domain or domains.

  • Communication & Prioritization : Acts as a key partner with the Project Management Office on developing proper communication with clients and Suppliers regarding project disposition and prioritization.

  • Service Request Management : Identifies and proposes new Service Requests to be included in the Service Catalogue as Standard Service Requests and initiates the Contract Change and Revision Management process.

  • Financial Accountability : Manages Phase Zero’s and holds accountability for accurate financial estimates.

  • RCE Request Collaboration : Works with BRM on the creation of RCE requests.

  • License Maintenance Management : For COTS, collaborates with Purchasing and vendors on ongoing software/hardware license maintenance estimates.

  • Maintenance Communication : Communicates maintenance needs to BRM, RUN, and the appropriate Finance team.

  • Communication Skills : Possesses the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of Management, from Senior Leadership to Shop Floor Supervisor.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred.

Experience / Training Required:

  • Extensive Functional Experience: Over 9 years of experience in business processes and analysis, with a minimum of 6 years dedicated to managing cross-divisional projects, including 3+ years of combined leadership .

  • Cross-Functional Program Management : Proven experience in managing multi-divisional or cross-functional programs.

  • Project Multitasking : Demonstrated proficiency in running multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Leadership in Implementation : Provides leadership for implementation guidelines and processes to ensure seamless transitions.

  • Communication Management : Experienced in driving communications concerning implementation plans at the enterprise, divisional, and country level.

  • Cross-Cultural Communication : Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively across international and cultural boundaries.

Key Competencies:

  • Supply Chain Systems Experience : Proficient with supply chain planning systems such as SAP APO, SAP IBP, Logility, or ADD ONE.

  • ERP Platforms Experience : Experience with major ERP platforms like SAP, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, JDA, or BPCS.

  • Supply Chain Understanding : In-depth understanding of end-to-end supply chain business processes.

  • Distribution and Warehouse Systems : Experienced with distribution and warehouse systems and Transportation Management.

  • Budget Management : Proficient in budget management.

  • People Management : Strong people-management and relationship-building skills.

The base pay for this position is $125,300.00 – $250,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
