3M is seeking a General Laborer for the Safety and Graphics Business/Industrial Mineral Products Division located in Wausau, Wisconsin. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of General Laborer will provide general plant cleanup for the assigned departments. Work to be accident free. Observe all safety rules, policies, and precautions during the course of departmental operations. Report any unsafe work conditions. Support Wausau’s safety culture and initiatives.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Shovels and sweeps around conveyors, elevators, equipment and roofs

  • Uses guzzler truck when necessary

  • Operates equipment including moving hoses as required

  • Handles heavy spouts, bags, hoses, screens in assigned areas

  • Provides coverage for other department jobs as needed

  • Responsible to fill in Department Helper, Mixer Operator, Coloring Janitor, Tank Loader, Car Loader, Assistant Car Loader and Utility Laborer (Bagging)

  • Notifies supervisor if any equipment is not operating properly

  • Notifies supervisor of any upset conditions affecting quality of the granule product

  • Responsible for any and all miscellaneous duties as directed by the supervisor

  • Works from both written and verbal instructions

  • Works in areas where the environment may be either hot, cold, humid, dry, dusty or dirty

  • Handles, packages, labels or transports RCRA hazardous waste. Responds to hazardous waste spills

  • Meets all customer expectations

  • Participated in on the job training of new personnel

  • Completes required safety and regulatory training. Participates in monthly crew meetings.

  • Performs other related duties as required to promote team effort in achieving department objectives

  • Follows established departmental housekeeping, safety practices and SOPs

This position will require:

  • Weekend work as needed

  • Working overtime as needed

  • Working holidays as needed

  • Short notice shift coverage as business needs occur

  • Working rotating shifts

  • Frequent physical demands including ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and exposure to extreme temperatures

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing experience in a private, public, government, or military environment

Location: Wausau, WI
