This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Ethanol Trader will manage the Ethanol product line’s Risk via corn, RIN, policy, commercial and ethanol risk positions. The Trader will be a key contributor in Cargill’s overall ethanol and commodity risk through meetings, strategies, and other communication needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply a deep comprehension of trading practices and procedures to develop and execute the short and long-term trading strategies for ethanol based on anticipatory and hedged positions.

  • Manage our physical ethanol production and markets, credit risk, and commercial sales of ethanol. Manage ethanol trading limits within SSTNA global trade book.

  • Monitor our team’s profit and loss on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

  • New customer development and acquisition along with monitoring and promoting new industrial uses and techniques for ethanol.

  • Independently handle and monitor trading positions and exposures, while working alongside Cargill’s Risk Management Group.

  • Detail oriented and driven to provided results along with behaviors showcasing a willingness for accountability.

  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

  • Collaborate with multiple Cargill functions to solve complex problems aligned with our short- and long-term strategies.

  • Communicate industry market movements and shifts, energy, and ag policy information, along with collaborating across multiple business units with Cargill key stakeholders.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of six years of related work experience

  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of grain, energy, and proven risk management skills
