Job Description

The External Manufacturing Large Molecule Drug Product Technical Operations (ExM LM DP TO) organization is seeking a highly motivated individual for an Associate Director Engineering position. ExM LM DP TO is accountable for tech transfers and commercial production of sterile drug product at our Company's External Partners. This person will have the opportunity to lead activities in all these areas with a primary focus on tech transfer leadership.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with External Partners to achieve business goals and to establish a common culture that benefits both our company, External Partners, and patients

  • Lead Tech Transfers of sterile drug product to our External Partner sites

  • Provide on-site coverage at External Partner in support of Tech Transfer person in plant activities

  • Coordinate and manages risk assessments and develops solutions to complex issues that require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation. Requires understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards that govern the manufacturing of sterile products.

  • Translate understanding of GMP requirements and current regulations and develop standardized work to meet these requirements by partnering with Operations, Quality, and External Partners

  • Ensure that External Partners are inspection ready for inspections related to new product introductions or transfers, in concert with Operations, Quality, and Regulatory

  • Provide technical leadership within Technical Operations group for the management of sterile drug product

  • Lead and act as the primary interface on technical issues between Technical Operations and External Partners

  • Provide direct leadership for day-to-day technical activities for commercial drug product manufacturing – i.e., trouble shooting, process changes and improvements, new manufacturing technology implementation, etc

  • Provide technical leadership on change controls, investigations, and CAPAs and support of Health Authority inspections

  • This role includes approximately 25% domestic travel

Minimum Education Requirement and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical / Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, or Chemistry/Biology, or other related science or engineering field with seven (7) years’ experience in a GMP functional area or support of a GMP functional area, such as Operations, Technical Operations, Technology, Engineering, and/or Maintenance

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively across boundaries to build strong collaborative relationships with internal and external teams

  • Strong professional and interpersonal communication skills are also required

  • Must be able to multi-task and work within tight deadlines

  • Flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as excellent organizational skills

  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, drug product manufacturing, and validation

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, root cause analysis, and risk assessment/mitigation

  • Proven team building skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in sterile / aseptic manufacturing

  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma Experience

  • Project management experience

  • Knowledge of worldwide regulatory requirements, experience supporting regulatory inspections

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Expected US salary range:

$135,500.00 - $213,400.00
