The Non-clinical Drug Safety (NDS) organization department of our Company's Research Laboratories is currently seeking an associate principal scientist with extensive expertise in toxicogenomic, systems toxicology and artificial intelligence at the West Point, PA site. An associate principal scientist will hold an important role within the Investigative Toxicology group of NDS, by applying toxicogenomic, systems biology and machine learning towards the development and application of novel biomarkers for the strategic de-risking of on- and off-target liabilities across the therapeutic discovery pipeline. The successful candidate will be experienced in analysis of genetic and genomic data, be team-oriented, with the ability to effectively communicate and thrive in an inclusionary, integrated, and multidisciplinary work environment, and have a working knowledge of pharmaceutical development and safety assessment.

The geographic location of this position is in West Point PA.

Specifically, the associate principal scientist will:

  • Integrate internal/external systems biology data including human genetics, multi-omics datasets (including bulk, single-cell and spatial approaches), and biological networks with supervised and machine learning approaches to identify novel biomarkers and mechanisms of on/off-target toxicities.

  • Perform, coordinate, and advise team members on the analysis of pipeline genomics data generated within NDS to assess biomarkers and mechanisms of on/off-target toxicities.

  • Actively participate in ongoing and future large academic/industry/regulatory partnerships to advance the usage and regulatory acceptance of systems toxicology approaches and biomarkers.

  • Spearhead both internal and peer-reviewed publications and presentations.

Education:

  • PhD or MD/PhD + preferably with 6+ years of academic or industry experience in toxicology, applied systems/computational biology, and/or related fields.

Required:

  • Proven track record of leveraging diverse systems biology datasets towards pharmaceutical pipeline development

  • Familiarity/experience with the application of artificial intelligence and/or machine learning to biological concepts.

  • Experienced in toxicogenomics with a broad understanding of toxicological sciences.

  • Experience with data architecture and mathematical programing (eg R, Matlab, Python)

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills including ability to distill and communicate complex biological ana analytical concepts to scientists from diverse disciplines.

  • <5% travel
