Job Description

We are seeking a Growth and Improvement minded Senior Specialist that can help drive our Operational Excellence Strategy within an Operations Environment.

Summary, Focus and Purpose

The West Point, PA site is our Company’s largest vaccine manufacturing facility that manufactures bulk and final dosage forms for our vaccine products and is growing to meet future demand. Our Company’s production system (MPS), is an integrated production system for how we design, manage, and continuously improve our operations and supporting business processes, enabled through the development of our people.

This role is responsible for driving the production system throughout the IPT to enable change in the operating systems, management systems, and mindsets, behaviors, and capabilities of our people to manufacture product of the highest quality, for the lowest cost, and in the shortest lead time.

Reporting to the IPT Lead and under the direction of the West Point MPS E2E lead, the successful candidate will work with all levels of the IPT through teaching, 1:1 and team coaching and direct on-the-floor support/on the job development.

Key Functions

  • Effectively coach and partner with functional leaders, and their leadership teams to execute performance improvement activities.

  • Support the installation and sustainment of the Daily Management System, Problem Solving, Leader Standardized Work and Standards Implementation (Closed Loop System)

  • Actively work to achieve required capability development expectations for this role

  • Provide guidance to frame appropriate business challenges, identifying key business opportunities using data and industry knowledge and trends

  • Provide teaching and coaching to effectively transfer Lean skills into the organization for the development of Leaders who promote a culture of continuous improvement and challenge the status quo

  • Utilize various MPS standards in conjunction with our standardized deployment roadmap to diagnose, analyze and improve business processes

  • Define a future state and create a master plan to achieve it

  • Respond with urgency to effectively break down complex problems, lead root cause analysis, and develop effective countermeasures

  • Build and Develop Key competencies in Leader Standardized Work and Problem Solving and continuously build those competencies withing the IPT

  • Engage and Support Development of Standardized Work, Heijunka (Level Loading) and Non-Value-Added Waste Elimination with the Shop Floor (Operations and Lab) as needed within the IPT or Department

Education

  • Bachelor degree in related field (i.e. Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field)

Or

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and 7 years of relevant academic and/or practical work experience related to manufacturing, operations, supply chain, military, or related field

Experience | Skills | Knowledge

Required

  • Basic understanding of MPS

  • Effective and Efficient Communication skills at all levels of the organization (Shop Floor to IPT Lead)

  • Passion for driving Change

  • Basic understanding of what is needed to drive change within an organization (i.e Change Execution Management (CEM) or Strategic Realization Framework (SRF)

  • Ability to interact with and coach all levels of the business (IPT Lead to shop floor working teams)

  • Experience with facilitating and leading teams

  • Ability to leverage diverse perspectives and talents to achieve business outcomes and influence decision making

  • Project Management | Team Building | Listening | Results Oriented skills

  • Solid business acumen

  • Excellent analytical skills, with proficiency in using IT applications to organize, analyze, & present information (e.g. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab and Teams)

Preferred

  • Experience in the IPT

  • Experience in applying MPS tools or concepts

  • Experience in a Vaccines or Sterile pharmaceutical environment
