Merck WP Vaccines Master Plan Execution in West Point, Pennsylvania

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for execution of the WP Capital Projects, including mentoring, development and support for our Capital Project Team Leads. The candidate will work directly with the Site Leadership Team to develop and realize the West Point Site Master Plan, as it pertains to Vaccine Manufacturing. In addition to the site responsibilities, the candidate will facilitate the Capital Review Committee for Global Vaccine Operations.

Responsibilities include:

Global Vaccine Operations (GVO) Capital Review Committee Facilitator (20% of Time)

  • Responsible for preparation, meeting organization and documenting decisions via formal minutes for all Capital Projects that require a higher level of approval.

  • Drive accountability for project cost and schedule to the 60 CRC managed projects.

  • First path review of all CRC project submissions. This review ensures that the capital project aligns with GVO business strategy prior to submitting for leadership approval.

  • Challenge the project cost to ensure we reduce unnecessary capital expenditures.

  • Understand the site master plan and drive critical projects to CRC touchpoints to ensure business strategy is met.

  • Single point of contact for Executive Capital Committee to facilitate larger Capital project reviews and approvals.

  • Review ECC projects with key stakeholders to ensure decision makers have the necessary information.

GVO Long Range Capital Plan (LRCP) Responsibility (5% of Time)

  • Responsible for development, maintenance, and review of the 5-year $4B GVO LRCP with senior leaders for their approval.

  • Incorporate the site master plan into the LRCP to set future financing of critical projects.

  • Set project prioritization to determine what projects can shift within the LRCP window.

  • Develop and gain alignment on site capital plan for project timing and potential deferrals.

WP Site Master Planning and Capital Management

  • Responsible for the development, maintenance, review, and execution of WP Site Master Plan to ensure proper utilization of facilities.

  • Coordinate our Manufacturing Division and site infrastructure projects to ensure the proper utility pre-investments are made for future developments.

  • Organize inputs from LROP (site capacity), RBAM (equipment lifecycle), Quality (compliance/inspections), VCM (product strategy), and Site IPTs (operations need) to develop LRCP placeholders.

  • Work with building landlords/GES business integrators to develop future plans for unused/underutilized spaces within GVO footprint.

  • Become integrated and consult on large capital project teams to ensure overall systems are considered when making decisions that may impact multiple departments

People Management of Capital Project Team Leads

  • Have managerial responsibilities for the Capital Project Team Leads to promote expertise of capital project team leaders (CPTL) on capital management processes (CMP).

  • Attend select capital project team meetings and set direction between CRC touchpoints.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering preferred)
