Merck Senior Lead Technician in West Trenton, New Jersey

Job Description

The Senior Lead Technician is responsible for maintaining and updating the computerized maintenance records for all company-owned aircraft. This role ensures the accuracy and completeness of maintenance documentation and airworthiness records while providing technical guidance to aircraft technicians. The ideal candidate will support the Aircraft Technical Manager in the planning, forecasting, and scheduling of aircraft maintenance tasks, while taking on supervisory responsibilities in their absence. This position will be on a schedule rotating between first and second shift. Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Records Management:

  • Maintain and update aircraft computerized maintenance records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Work collaboratively with maintenance record vendors to resolve discrepancies and enhance system functionality.

  • Create and file comprehensive log book entries for airframe, engine, and Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) log books as necessary.

  • Documentation and Compliance:

  • File all airworthiness documentation and aircraft flight logs on a monthly basis.

  • Close the monthly maintenance planner and prepare for upcoming tasks.

  • Supervisory Duties:

  • Act as shift supervisor in the absence of the Aircraft Technical Manager, delegating job assignments and overseeing the work of aircraft technicians.

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to technicians performing inspections, repairs, and maintenance on aircraft.

  • Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Liaise with aircraft manufacturer (OEM) technical representatives for troubleshooting guidance and to address aircraft discrepancies.

  • Order necessary parts and supplies to facilitate timely maintenance operations.

  • Maintenance Planning:

  • Assist the Aircraft Technical Manager in forecasting, planning, and scheduling maintenance tasks.

  • Develop comprehensive work packages and a detailed monthly maintenance planner outlining job tasks to be completed.

  • Safety and Compliance Checks:

  • Research and develop ground run and flight checklists to be utilized by technicians and pilots post-maintenance.

  • Ensure all maintenance actions comply with FAA regulations and the manufacturer's recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in aviation maintenance preferred.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance.

  • Prior experience with computerized maintenance tracking systems.

  • Certifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) required.

  • Skills:

  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations and aircraft maintenance practices.

  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and leadership skills.

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$98,400 - $155,000
