The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capability Unit (SCU) at BAE Systems Inc, Space and Mission Systems Sector is looking to expand our team with a talented and energetic software engineer to work on satellite ground system software delivering new capability to the industry. This position consists of working on a tightly integrated team in a fast-paced Agile environment to deliver continuous innovation to our customers.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers missions. What You ll Do:
Design & Architecture: Develop and implement cloud-based infrastructure to meet business requirements.
Deployment & Management: Automate deployment, scaling, and management of cloud applications and services.
Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and scalability.
Security: Implement and maintain cloud security best practices, including identity management, access controls, and data encryption.
Cost Management: Optimize cloud infrastructure costs while ensuring robust performance.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, processes, and standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to align cloud solutions with organizational goals.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
Proficiency with one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Demonstrated experience in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI).
Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and VPN configurations in cloud environments.
Understanding of database services (RDS, DynamoDB, BigQuery) and storage solutions.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Degree in Computer Science, or Information Technology preferred.
Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Professional Cloud Architect are a plus.
Experience with hybrid cloud setups.
Knowledge of serverless computing (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Splunk, Prometheus).
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $61820.000 - $105050.000
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
