Merck Senior Analyst – Cost of Sales & Inventory (COSI) Process Support in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey

Job Description

Position Description:

Senior Analyst – Cost of Sales & Inventory (COSI) Process Support provides assistance to the COSI organization on the end-to-end accounting activities related to the costing and movement of inventory through our Company’s financial supply chain. The COSI end-to-end activities include legal costing, reviewing the calculation of consolidated cost, movement of inventory, reconciliation of inventory balances, and the calculation of intercompany profit.

The position will develop a broad understanding of the end to end financial reporting process, Our Company's financial supply chains, and the use of various financial tools.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ownership of Product Presentation Hierarchy (a hierarchy of how a product rolls into various levels) and MARA Extension (an extension of SAP material master table), including related enhancement projects and ongoing documentation

  • Monitoring of CIM (Common Information Model) dimension Errors on sales and inventory transactions in the FSA (Finance Shared Area database); ensuring all mapping of CIM dimensions on sales and inventory transactions is complete.

  • Partnering with local finance teams, Business Service Centers (BSC), Divisional Financial Service (DFS) teams to provide monthly close support and guidance on how to properly record sales and cost of sales related activity.

  • Local Adjustment Tool (LAT) Compliance Monitoring and monthly metrics generation. LAT is used to book manual journal entries in SAP for sales, cost of sales and inventory.

  • Local Adjustment Tool Business Support to assist global users with any issues when booking journal entries in LAT.

  • Assist with system and process enhancement projects.

  • Testing, communication and training related to system fixes and improvements.

  • Participation on the Training SME (Subject Matter Expert) team to assist with COSI team training.

  • WFRS (Worldwide Financial Reporting System) Users Account Security Annual Review.

  • cMass (Collaborative Mass Change) User access management.

  • Ongoing documentation of work process.

  • Participate in special and ad hoc projects and provide necessary support to Associate Director and other analysts as needed.

Position Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3+ years demonstrated experience in an analytical, accounting or finance role

  • Ability to work well independently, as well as in teams

  • Highly developed organizational, analytical and communication skills and an ability to collaborate across areas

  • Proficiency in Excel

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Knowledge of Finance Sharing Area (FSA), Finance Tool Kit (FTK), SAP, HFM/Smartview, Blackline, Analysis for Office, PowerBI and other Data Analytic tools.
