This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.

Job Purpose and Impact

The R&D Manager Packaging Innovation will lead a team to execute innovation goals and achieve established business strategies in packaging for Cargill Protein North America. In this role, you will lead the execution of a portfolio of projects, process improvements and goals supporting business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead a high performing, highly engaged team to create vision, strategic workforce planning, organizational development, engagement and communication.

  • Provide leadership and advisory on how to execute on the business’s packaging innovation and continuous improvement portfolio.

  • Responsible for the successful completion of selected projects within the product and continuous improvement portfolio related to packaging according to agreed time frames and budgets.

  • Partner with business leaders and customers along with vendors to identify opportunities to leverage emerging packaging innovations

  • Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Experience communicating scientific research to a broader audience

  • Minimum of six years of related work experience

  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of supervisory experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering

  • Experience in the food industry and commercializing food products

  • Experience working with customers on packaging initiatives

Location: This role can be located in either Plymouth, MN or Wichita, KS

Minnesota Sick and Safe Leave accruals of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 48 hours per calendar year unless otherwise provided by law.
