Kalrez® Custom Parts Designer

Description of Assignment

The Kalrez® business is seeking to expand our portfolio through targeted growth partnerships with OEMs and Fabs in the US. We need an individual with strong materials (elastomers) expertise, design and problem-solving skills. While also having the ability to cultivate deeper relationships with R&D experts and designers at key customer accounts in region. The individual in this new role will report directly to the Americas Kalrez® Technical Service Leader. This individual will partner closely with the US Sales and TS&D teams on new Custom Parts Designs. Role to be located in Experimental Station (Wilmington, DE) or SVTC (Sunnyvale, CA).

Responsibilities:

• Works closely with our Application Engineering, Commercial Teams and our customers to design Kalrez® custom parts and associated tooling.

• Designs parts that meet customer needs while paying close attention to part manufacturability.

• Responsibility for part and part family design.

• Leads the preparation of conceptual design, provide overall design discipline leadership and coordinate within their functional processes.

• Coordinates the design, develops design estimates and tracks costs during the design process.

• Mentors less experienced engineers, designers, or contractors and works with outside firms as needed.

• Occasional travel (Customer visits, vendors and trade shows)

Qualifications:

Seeking an experienced mechanical or materials engineer who will have:

• Experience in rubber industry and/or polymer science

• 5+ years in a design, manufacturing or R&D environment

• Capable of using CAD for new custom part and tools designs

• Has at least a BS in mechanical or materials engineering (or commensurate industry experience)

• Leading and executing growth projects associated with unsolved customer needs in high performance sealing applications, requiring a strong aptitude for design, process technology, and teamwork.

• Interacting with internal and external R&D scientists & engineers, Sales Account Leaders, TS&D experts, Custom Parts designers, and Portfolio/Product Leaders, etc in Kalrez® and broader E&I as needed.

• FEA knowledge and experience a plus

• R&D Project or portfolio management is a plus

The Pay range for this role is $94,920.00 - $149,160.00 Annual
