We currently have an opportunity for a Risk Assessor to join this team. In this role, you will use information from various sources including your own, to conduct risk assessments for specific chemicals, mixtures, or articles, considering all relevant exposure scenarios during the life cycle of a material. Because the team’s efforts are consistently directed towards meeting the objectives of all of DuPont’s Electronics & Imaging (E&I) businesses, we must be pragmatic in our approach. Prioritization skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to graciously adapt to change are important in this exciting and rapidly moving environment.
The physical work location will be DuPont’s Chestnut Run Plaza campus in Wilmington, DE.
Risk assessors work in collaboration with the Toxicology Liaisons to the business units and other staff, with the goal of ensuring that DuPont products are safe to workers, customers, end-users or consumers, and the environment, while meeting all applicable global regulatory requirements for chemicals and products. In addition, risk assessors often work closely with the business units’ product stewards, managers, and safety and regulatory experts.
EssentialFunctions (responsibilities and duties) :
Apply mastered risk assessment/exposureassessment practices
Generate exposureestimates using the range of techniques available, from relatively simplecalculations to complex modeling tools when exposure measurements are lacking
Reviewand interpret hazard and exposure related information and appropriately conducta risk assessment
When needed, propose additional data-gatheringto ensure adequate effects and/or exposure estimation for conductance of riskassessments
Interpret all pertinent information and, consideringany uncertainties that remain, report risk characterizations results usinghighly effective written communication skills toensure that DuPont chemicals and products are safe from the perspective ofworkers, supply chain customers, consumers, and the environment.
Communicate findings through verballydelivered presentations in a manner that is effective for both business andscientific audiences nationally and internationally.
Recommend and implement method developmentprojects to expand risk assessment/exposure assessment competency. Mentor and train junior scientists/new staffmembers in risk assessment/exposure assessment concepts.
Represent the Corporation on externalindustry and professional association committees.

5 to 7 years of experience in riskassessment, with particular emphasis in exposure assessment
PhD or MS in Exposure Science, PublicHealth, Environmental Science/Health, Toxicology, Industrial/OccupationalHygiene or related fields of study
Demonstrated quantitative skills relevant tohuman and ecological exposure estimation
Demonstrated understanding of basic (eco)toxicologicalendpoints and health benchmarks used in hazard assessment
Excellent written and oral Englishcommunication skills
Ability to effectively function as a memberof a high-performance, risk assessment and toxicology teamThe following are highly desirable:
Knowledgeable about regulatory agencies andregulations that aim to regulate chemicals and chemical products around theworld, such as: USEPA/TSCA/FIFRA, FDA/USDA,Health Canada and Environment Canada, REACH-like regulations as in EU-REACH,KOREA-REACH, CHINA-REACH, TAIWAN-REACH, EFSA, GHS, DG, DEA, etc.
Experience with exposure modeling programs(e.g., ChemSTEER, E-Fast, IAQX, EUSES, ECETOC TRA, and ConsExpo)
Ability to review and use hazard benchmarksrequired by regulatory programs (RfD, RfC, CSF, NSRL, MADL, occupationalexposure limits, TDI, DNEL, PNEC, etc.)
Familiarity with computational toxicologyprocedures/models
Experience with both industrial chemicalsand biological substances (enzymes and probiotics)
Data management/organization; MS Access
