Merck Associate Specialist, Supply Chain Management in Wilson, North Carolina

Job Description

Our Supply Chain team ensures inventory is consistently available to meet customer demand. We coordinate all aspects of supply through supply planning, sourcing, making, inventory management, packaging and delivery. We partner across the Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing organizations to build a robust demand and supply plan and ensure we get products to the right customer, at the place, at the right time.

The Supply Chain Management Associate Specialist will play a pivotal role in the Supply Chain function by leveraging data, information, and available tools to gain insight into business performance, drive fact-based decisions, and communicate opportunities for sustained improvement. The candidate will focus on data discovery and preparation, model development and/or data mining, and finally assessing options and making recommendations. The candidate will work on a variety of projects to help our business grow service levels, reduce cost and risk, improve cash flow, and support compliance, policies, processes.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Develop business analysis & decision support tools/reports to assist the supply chain organization effectively execute their core responsibilities.

  • Utilize analytic strategies to drive the business towards data-based decision making.

  • Key supply chain areas of focus are metrics (IRL, iOTIF, LROT, etc.), inventory levels, lead time alignment, forecast comparisons, master data, adherence to DILO/WILO, and distribution & logistics.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business or technical discipline, including Supply Chain, Business Planning, Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or equivalent required.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to break down complex problems and/or projects into manageable pieces to arrive at efficient and sustainable solutions.

  • Capable of understanding beyond data and link to business outcomes.

  • Self-working and natural sense of urgency and drive to completion.

  • Highly organized, proactive, and problem solving mindset.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to create and present information logically and effectively.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft based systems (Strong in MS Excel) to develop reports, measurements, presentations and data analytics.

  • Able to effectively partner with functional areas outside your specific area of expertise.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to think End-to-End when analyzing problems and resolving project conflicts.

  • Willingness to be flexible and to work in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to align, lead and drive change activities across global and/or cross functional teams towards a common goal. A strong appreciation that the best results come from the combined efforts of diverse teams and shared perspectives.

  • Willing to travel if needed.
