Merck Lead Technician (Maintenance Mechanic) in Wilson, North Carolina

Job Description

Position Description:

Lead Technician (Maintenance Mechanic) position is to perform advanced level troubleshooting and to provide technical assistance to others. Technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude and leadership skills and the ability to delegate work assignments also required but not limited to:

  • Must know all phases of production within their respective area to be able to support the Supervisor in meeting company goals and objectives.

  • Ensure that written procedures are being followed.

  • Ensure safety of employees.

  • Ensure facilities and equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

  • Carry out special projects, as assigned, with little or no supervision.

  • Assist in scheduling of work assignments and ensure work assignments are completed.

  • Train employees on new procedures and sets up, adjusts, repairs, and maintains all Pharmaceutical process equipment.

  • Performs calibrations and maintains industrial instrumentation standards.

  • Carries out industrial maintenance functions in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices and prepares technical documentation on as needed basis.

  • Participates in the establishment and improvement of new and existing process equipment.

  • Provides technical specifications and information to Research and Development, Process-Project Engineers, and other of our Manufacturing Division requestors.

  • Write installs, and tests measuring and non-measuring logic controller programming.

  • Primary focus will involve maintaining process equipment by developing/performing PM's, developing/performing instrument calibrations, installing new equipment, completing validation protocols, documenting work using a computerized maintenance management system.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • High School diploma or Equivalent

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant maintenance experience and a primary knowledge in the industrial maintenance environment is required.

  • Mechanical and electrical trouble shooting skills are essential and must possess these skills to be effective in this area without further skills training.

  • Must be able to read electrical prints.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 10 or more years of Pharmaceutical maintenance experience

  • Knowledge and/or experience with formal problem solving techniques as it relates to a hands-on approach to problem solving, such as root cause analysis and/or Lean Six Sigma tools

  • Technical degree in Industrial Electronics or related field.
