Merck Senior Specialist Procurement- (Hybrid) in Wilson, North Carolina
Job Description
The Senior Specialist will be a member of the Global CapEx execution team, and will support key project areas such as engineering, finance, our Research & Development Division for capital projects. As designated, the candidate will be a point of contact for aligned businesses Research & Development Division or functions (i.e., IT, Finance, HR, Manufacturing Division , IFM), supporting the implementation of category strategies, project procurement plans and requisitions for procurement of goods and services. He/she will have Ariba Sourcing knowledge and capable of navigating the sourcing platform. In addition, will execute basic negotiations of applicable contract terms as required.
In addition to providing primary expertise in Capital planning, engagement management and performance improvement the senior specialist will provide direct guidance, planning and supervision. The selected candidate will ensure understanding of our Company's requirements and expectations in strategic assistance and engagement deliverables. The Individual will be required to understand budgeting models, pricing models, total cost of ownership, margins paid and must drive financial transparency.
Supports relationships with internal stakeholders and global suppliers, while maintaining adherence to our Company's procurement policies and processes. Consistent, strategic alignment with procurement requirements is critical as the role strives to provide integrated services that anticipates needs to exceed the expectations of stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Support and execute global category strategies ensuring compliance with the company’s policies and procedures. for the CapEx program.
As directed, oversees all aspects of procurement project execution, in close collaboration with category strategy teams and other cross-functional groups.
As directed, interacts with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders to establish and enable continuous improvement and governance of capital spend.
Supports the execution of the unified sourcing strategy to drive sourcing compliance and maximize our Company's leverage to drive value.
Responsible for managing the supplier performance/metrics on their assigned projects.
Support the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program by ensuring all stakeholders, category and execution teams are in alignment with their respective project performance.
Monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the assigned projects. KPIs to include at a minimum safety, diversity, sustainability and savings (traditional and cost avoidance).
Drive consistency across all areas of the enterprise. Areas included, but not limited to are, overall supplier management, compliance, risk management, diversity spend, and shareholder management.
Integrate all internal customers to the established GCP policies and procedures.
Stay at the forefront of sustainability best practices, regulations, and industry trends, ensuring our sustainability approach remains cutting-edge and aligned with emerging opportunities.
Drive diversity spend by identifying new suppliers globally and create opportunities by optimizing work breakdown structure.
Provide leadership and consistency with our Company’s environmental and sustainability goals.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, supply chain, construction management.
Required Experience and Skills:
Demonstrated project management expertise, successfully managing fast-paced projects with multiple players across cross-functional teams.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, including suppliers and industry organizations.
Success executing sustainability initiatives with measurable outcomes and the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects concurrently.
Ariba or other sourcing related platform experience
Ability to challenge the current state and drive transformational changes as the leader of the program.
Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to effectively communicate complex sustainability topics to diverse audiences.
Ability to navigate a dynamic and fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities and opportunities.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Proven track record of leading and managing large-scale transformational programs, preferably in a multinational organization.
Knowledge of diversity/economic inclusion, environmental sustainability concepts, regulations, and industry best practices is desirable.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Expected US salary range:
$91,600.00 - $144,100.00
