United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) Electric, Environmental and Engine Systems Engineering, Air Management Systems organization is seeking an energetic, dedicated and highly motivated process-oriented Engineer to support design and development programs over their life-cycle. The qualified individual should have some experience in the design and development of complex integrated systems over the product development life cycle from requirements definition, validation and verification activities at a system level or have completed the life cycle processes for component develop & qualification that are performed in support of aircraft certification. This position is in training for a future team leadership position. Skills in project planning, problem solving, and excellent communication skills for daily interaction with Engineering Functional discipline engineers, Customer’s engineering staff, Suppliers, and UTAS internal management are required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the System IPD Team in the execution of requirements definition through requirements validation, or root cause and corrective action investigations (from System to Component level depending on investigation)

  • Interfacing with the Component Design functional teams or Suppliers for product issue investigation and corrective actions.

  • Due to resource constraints, may act as both an SIPT and a Component IPT engineer to ensure responsive timely execution.

  • Interfacing with functional and design disciplines to ensure program execution is in accordance with cost & schedule targets and technical requirements.

  • Interfacing with the System Design disciplines to support trade studies; understand the simulations utilized to troubleshoot system design issues and make design decisions for both component and software/control changes

  • Lead system verification by test activities (test rig requirements generation, troubleshooting of test facility issues throughout the design & build process, test procedure generation, test conductance and troubleshooting, data analysis, problem reporting and resolution, and test report generation)

  • Program level coordination of component qualification activities to support aircraft certification requirements; for sustaining program activities act in concert or in-lieu of the CIPT to drive redesign & qualification activities.

  • Execution of program activities in accordance with ARP4754 guidelines and coordination with customer personnel for compliance oversight activities

  • A successful candidate will bring demonstrated engineering experience in product design and development activities.

  • Knowledge of FAA/EASA aerospace and industry standards, DOORS® and Matlab Simulink are a plus.

Qualification:

  • 7 years’ experience with bachelors degree

  • 5 years’ experience with advanced degree

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 7 years’ experience.

  • Advanced degree in engineering and 5 years’ experience
