The Lead Information Security Architect is a trusted advisor, influencer and thought leader whose Information Security expertise, IT expertise and business knowledge combines to translate business, legal and regulatory needs into appropriate security controls and risk awareness that deliver the capabilities needed to protect the business achieve business results. Influences technology strategy and advises senior leaders based on knowledge and perspective. Applies business, industry and technical knowledge (across multiple assets, domains, platforms, technologies, vendors, etc.) to lead the delivery of innovative solutions. Provides leadership to appropriately support and maintain technology capabilities. Collaborates across domains to understand business, information and system implications. Comfortable dealing with ambiguity while solving complex problems, drives innovation and strives for continuous improvement. Focuses on the broader Thrivent enterprise while collaborating with leaders, verbally and in writing, to align business and technical concepts in an understandable way.
The Lead Information Security Architect is responsible for guiding and establishing the Conceptual Information Security Architecture for large scale projects and programs. The Sr Information Security Architect is also responsible for driving adoption and continuous improvement of architecture standards and best practices.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads development of architecture for current business solutions and future business needs
Acts as the subject matter expert for the assigned technology solutions
Experience with Information Security tools, methodologies, architecture development, implementation and operational support and documentation.
Design, integrate, and implement information systems security infrastructure.
Industry standard knowledge on technologies, tools and methods including Service Oriented Architecture, EAI, operating systems, application servers, application development, integrations, networking, networking fabrics, frameworks, databases, CI/CD, containerization (e.g., Docker, Openshift), cloud providers security and controls (Azure, AWS), SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS
Assess potential systems and process vulnerabilities to determine security infrastructure requirements.
Develop policies and procedures to prevent unauthorized access.
Educate and communicate information security requirements and procedures
Recommend and implement changes to enhance systems security and prevent unauthorized access.
Research security trends, new methods, and techniques used in unauthorized access of data to preemptively eliminate the possibility of system breach.
Provide guidance and direction on best practices for the protection of information.
Ensure compliance with regulations and privacy laws.
May oversee internal or external systems security (e.g., cloud services).
Experience interacting, reviewing and evaluating, providers and products for appropriate controls against industry standards, organizational policies and standards.
Knowledge and experience working with NIST 800-53, CSF 1.1, and risk analysis and methodology
Clear understand of perimeter security capabilities
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in MIS, Computer Science or related field
5+ years of experience in Technology related field including prior lead experience
Advanced in-depth knowledge and experience in one or more of the following Information Security programs areas: Asset and Identity Management, Risk Management, Threat Management, Incident Management and/or Security Engineering & Operations Support.
Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking and leadership skills
