SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Director of Strategic Sourcing is a partner to enable profitable growth by leading and managing all aspects of the supply chain function. The position is a hands- on partner of the Akron Brass Supply Chain team, helping to develop best-in-class strategies and processes that align customer needs to the optimal global supply network that improves efficiencies, cost, working capital, and risk mitigation. The leader is a visionary in supply chain, a consensus builder, and an integrator of people and processes; collaborating across business units to affect positive change. As a member of the Senior Leadership Staff, the position aids in setting Business Unit budgets, goals, resource allocations, and strategic direction to business platform expectations and critical business needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize 8020 tools to actively reduce supplier and supply chain complexity.

  • Design and implement global commodity management strategies to decrease risk, increase OTD, and deliver a minimum of 3% YOY cost reduction, while meeting working capital goals.

  • Develop overarching global Supply Chain strategy and network design for the BU – ensuring significant focus on customer expectations to achieve growth targets.

  • Integrate and facilitate the relationship with business leaders throughout the BU, aligning the Sourcing Strategy to other business objectives, goals, and outcomes.

  • Design and implement best-in-class Sourcing policies, processes, systems, and advanced technologies, focusing on cost-effectiveness, reliability, and risk management.

  • Develop and monitor Sourcing KPIs.

  • Oversee the Sourcing functions of the BU, developing, training, and coaching team members to high levels of engagement through the company values of Trust, Team, and Excellence.

  • Ensure successful negotiation of all major spends and procurement agreements.

  • Establish Strategic Supplier Management Processes and lead the relationships/partnerships with all critical suppliers.

  • Lead the development of suppliers to ensure they exceed Corporate, regulatory, and legal requirements.

  • Provide strategic partnership with strong knowledge of market conditions, anticipating price fluctuation, and ensuring reliable supply of material.

  • Drive results with a sense of urgency and diplomacy through superior change management techniques.

  • All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  • B.S. degree in Supply Chain Management or similar field

  • MBA preferred

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive global sourcing and purchasing experience, and a minimum of 5 years in a personnel leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems (JDE preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of negotiation and supplier agreements

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead globally, including influencing, in a matrixed organizational structure.

  • Collaborator, influencer, and the ability to present to all levels of business unit.

  • Experience with lean tools such as VSM, Kanban, material flow, supermarkets.
