S ummary

Assesses the supplier process and ensures that all the products are free from defects and are in compliance with manufacturing specifications and legal standards. Lead the NPI projects components development in supplier, responsible for the supplier’s process control from design concept to the end of product life. Ensure that APQP activities related to process control are being performed by the supplier.

Responsibilities

Manage supplier’s project plans and activities to ensure the product meets Caterpillar expectations. Reviews APQP documentation (e.g., Process FMEA, Process Control Plans, Gage R&R..). including assessing suppliers via on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) audits, continuously reviewing supplier capability, assuring production readiness through a rigorous review of supplier PPAP submission.

Collaborate with suppliers to assure proper process control standards are in place and continuously monitor key manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities. Ensure that suppliers have adequate people, training, tooling, fixture, and equipment. Monitoring suppliers’ adherence to PCN (Process Change Notification) on a timely and cost-effective basis as well as to develop the supply base to fulfill the total requirements from Caterpillar Production System (CPS) implementation.

Coordinate with engineering team on matters regarding Concurrent Product and Process Development (CPPD), New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) teams; Support engineering changes, deviations, supplier designs, specification approvals, meeting cost reduction goals, and participates in the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) process with suppliers manufacturing processes.

Support Category Strategies, supplier development & performance management and provide technical leadership in new supplier selection. Evaluate and develop new supplier’s technological capability to meet requirements for Caterpillar.

Responsible for the review, approval, and validation of 8D permanent corrective action plans. Performs quality management system audits and Supplier Evaluation, including assessments of potential new suppliers. Participates in the development of Supplier quality metrics. Participates in Supplier Performance Management Reviews (SPM). Provide resolution and ensure implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with the purchased materials, logistics, and engineering issues.

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

Supplier Evaluations and Certification: Knowledge of supplier evaluations and certification; ability to identify the methods, tools and documentation for evaluating, selecting and certifying vendors, suppliers and partners.
