As Engineering Manager in system team, lead and develop a highly technical Systems Engineering team delivering optimized Power System NPI programs and supporting product maintenance.

Full accountability for driving the creation and optimization of system level requirements, defining performance system hardware and software concepts, creating system level DFMEA and DVP&R, executing validation plan and collaborating with key Engineering process partners to enable world class Power System solutions to be brought to market.

What You Will Do:

Role Definition

o Manages engineering for design and development of technologies, components, systems, products, or services.

Responsibilities

o Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for engineering teams; motivating and developing project and team leaders.

o Providing specialized engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization.

o Managing high-impact, short and long duration engineering initiatives and projects; ensuring achievement of engineering plan and product quality.

o Maintaining product release plans and material plans; driving programs to completion on time and within budget.

o Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

What Skills You Will Have:

Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Customer/Market Focus: Understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.

Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

Required Qualifications:

• An accredited Engineering, Bachelors/Masters degree or PhD.

• Strong engine performance development related experience and excellent analytical skills.

• Experienced user of engine performance simulation tools and FMEA tool

• Experience in combined Engine, Aftertreatment and controls system performance development, simulation, and calibration.

• Experience in engine mechanical development, robustness development, technical issue management.

• Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills

• Able to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.

• Ability to build effective relationships across a matrix organization.

Desired Qualifications:

• Significant experience of Engine & Aftertreatment Systems Integration and is recognized within the company as a leader within the field.

• Comprehensive Caterpillar engine system experience in IPSD.

• Experience with end-customer applications.

• Fundamental understanding of Systems Engineering methodologies and tools.

• Experience and insights into the future power system technologies and industry trends.

• Strategic thinker.

• Technical credibility.

• Understand the business and its impact on technology and the customers' business and needs.
