As an Operations Manager, you'll take the lead on complex manufacturing activities to help ensure the production of high quality products.

As an Operations Manager, you will:

  • Plan, organize, staff, control, and direct medium-sized, complex manufacturing activities (i.e. Combat vehicle assembly, Structure and Vehicle paint and Vehicle testing)

  • Assess and apply measures, methods, and techniques designed to improve safety, product, process quality, efficiency, productivity, equipment, and process performance

  • Recommend changes in working conditions and modifications in machine tools and plant facilities

  • Coordinate with appropriate personnel regarding safety, quality assurance, master scheduling, facilities engineering, environmental management, and labor/material/overhead/G&A costs, to optimize return on assets

  • Select, direct, train, develop, and review subordinates. Determine staffing levels. Manage hiring, training, promotion, transfer, compensation action, and termination, as required, consistent with policy.

  • Provide leadership for shared responsibility of employee development, share responsibility and self-development with immediate manager

  • Develop and implement staffing plans for direct and indirect labor, and administrative personnel, maximizing personnel safety, quality, efficiency, utilization, and productivity

  • Manage work-in-process inventory and ensuring availability to meet production commitments at maximum cost containment. Develop and implement procedures to optimize work-in-process-inventory

  • Provide management, government, and appropriate customer personnel with complete, current, and accurate data on department activity, together with recommendations from management action/decision

  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing, engineering, and quality to specify methods of manufacturing, machine tool, industrial equipment, tooling and gaging needs and developing large structure Paint and assembly processes which represent the most cost effective means to meet customer requirements

  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.

The position requires administration of a collective bargaining contract. The position is 80% factory environment interfacing with direct labor personnel and 20% office environment performing administrative duties.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Typically requires a bachelor s degree in a related discipline and 6 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Well versed in general manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, fabrications, assembly and finishing

  • Knowledgeable in blueprint reading and interpretation, safety management techniques, routings, process sheets, work instructions, labor reports, quality statistics, inventory monitoring, standards interpretation, quality management metrics/tools, capacity requirements planning (CRP), and key performance indicators (KPI)

  • Possess a general understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and materials requirement planning (MRP)

  • Collaborative working experience with other departments and teams

  • Ability to identify, define, interpret, and develop new and creative solutions to solve complex problems as solutions are often innovative

  • Experience as a people manager with a proven ability to manage, lead, inspire, motivate, and train others in accomplishing work activities in pursuit of goal achievement and meeting established performance standards

  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written, to disseminate information

  • Computer skills to include MS Office and function related software

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $87700 - $149100

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
